The risk of downloading poor quality media files, corrupted and virus-infected music tracks will make you seek comfort from the top music download sites. iTunes and Napster are among the popular names for online music downloads.
Downloading music from iTunes
Apple's iTunes Music Store is touted as the best source of legal music downloads today. With more than 200,000 songs, there are good choices for audiophiles. Each download and burning costs about $1, which a lot of people consider to be a better deal than those of subscription-based download sites. The iTunes Music Store won the hearts of many with its impressive graphical interface. The browse options are also easy to navigate, making it a lot easier to get what you want. With iTunes, you can burn the tracks to discs, add them to your iPod music library, or even share them to other Macs. Perhaps the only glitch is that it has a limited catalog compared to other download sites. You can find your favorite artists there but not all of their tracks are available.
Music downloads from Napster
Perhaps the major advantage to using Napster is the varied membership levels available to users with varying needs for music downloads and budget range. Users also rave about accessibility when using Napster. If ever your computer crashed, as a subscriber, you can still get access to your tracks on the Napster site. Napster To Go, one of its premium subscription plans, also allows you to stream unlimited tracks on your computer and transfer the full-length tracks to up to three portable devices, as long as they are compatible. All these for a single monthly fee. On the other hand, compatibility with other devices and the large file size are among the issues users have against Napster. Once subscription is canceled, tracks saved and played on your PC and media player will no longer work since you don't own them.
Choose a download site that offers compatibility with your preferred media player, has a wide-range catalog of music tracks, and provides great service at a reasonable fee.

If much of your music downloads come from iTunes, then you might want to convert them into mp3 since most are DRM protected. By converting them into mp3, you won't be restricted to using your Apple iPod alone but can also play them on any computer and other portable media players. Here's how:
Conversion to mp3 for non-protected files
Once you've launched iTunes, choose "Edit" and then go to "Preferences." From here, go to "Advanced" and select "Importing." Change the default setting of "Importing Using" to "MP3 Encoder." After saving the changes you've made, check the library and press right-click to view the music track and select an option for "Convert Selection to MP3." You can easily convert the track to mp3 if the file is not protected. Meanwhile, a pop-up will inform you if conversion to another format is not possible for the protected track.
For iTunes 8, file conversion to mp3 has a different setting than older versions. Simply click on "Edit," choose "Preferences" and then "General" before clicking on the "Import Settings" option.
Conversion to mp3 for protected files
For the protected files, conversion to mp3 requires burning the music files to a disc. Use an audio CD for this. Through iTunes, open the audio CD and choose tracks to be added to the library. Point and press right-click on the selected media file to see an option for "Convert Selection to MP3." If you have a lot of media files to convert, better use a CD Emulator instead of burning tracks to several CD-R discs.
By converting them to a more widely accepted mp3 format, playing music tracks from iTunes using any of your music player is possible. Just follow the steps above.

The music industry has been expanding its grasp by allowing listeners to download MP3 files off the net. As a matter of fact, you can download most of these files for free.
Illegal mp3 music downloads
There are ways you can get mp3 off the Internet by downloading through shareware software or through direct downloads from websites. You can download most of them for free but there are still people out there who take advantage of this and share copies of music illegally. These are downloads without the consent of the creators and producers of the music. This is degrading for the music industry so piracy must be stopped.
Sites to avoid when downloading free music
There are sites out there that look legit but behind them are big pirates and criminals who try to take advantage of other people. There are sites to look out for out there like those with a lot of pop-ups. These sites try to take advantage of you by asking you to sign up for their promos and get freebies when eventually you’ll get nothing. They can even trick you into purchasing mp3 songs when in the first place they are actually free.
Try to be more wise in your downloads because there are free mp3 players and free music in mp3 formats that may contain malware.

While downloading free music can save you a bundle, there are innate risks to it. Given these risks, it might not even be worth it to be downloading free music at all.
Getting free music downloads with poor audio quality
First of all, there is a great possibility that you will be getting poor quality audio when downloading free music. This is understandabl since it is often true that you get what you pay for. The free download may end up being a waste of your mp3 player’s memory.
Increased risk of virus infection with free music downloads
Some malicious online entities also use free music downloads as a means to hack into different computing systems. What happens is that malware or viruses may be attached to the music files that you download. These malware or viruses can launch on their own, upon download, or, you might trigger these when you play your music. In this case, the few dollars you save on downloading free music can amount to so much more just to fix a virus-invaded computing system.
Possibility of identity theft with P2P file sharing
Likewise, when you use P2P file sharing services to download free music, you risk opening your port to malicious attackers who are equipped to get your private online information, such as account numbers, names, and passwords.

Buying an MP3 player used to be an easy decision to make. However, with so many nice-looking choices these days, it may be a little harder to choose the perfect MP3 player for you. Here are some tips on buying an MP3 player:
Available memory of the MP3 player
Consider the available built-in memory when buying an MP3 player. Built-in memory affects how much music files you can save into your player. Likewise, consider if the MP3 player has an available memory slot for external memory drives.
Size and design of MP3 players
Looks, of course, can matter a lot when buying an MP3 player. Some may decide purely on aesthetic preferences. You might also want to consider the compactness of the MP3 player, especially if you like to move around a lot, minus the bulky gear and audio toys.
MP3 player prices
Likewise, prices matter. Set some priorities for yourself when buying MP3 players. Know what features and looks you’d want and how much you’re willing to pay for them. Based on this list of priorities, canvass for models that suit your needs and budget.

The Zune 120 is the third generation version of the Microsoft MP3 player. This MP3 player review will give a glimpse of what to expect from this product.
The Microsoft Zune 120 GB MP3 Player features
The Microsoft Zune 120 is a remarkable upgrade compared to its predecessors. It has a 3.2-ince LCD screen, impressive navigation and controls, podcast support, FM radio, built-in composite video output, and wireless syncing. It’s a level up of the already nice wi-fi features of older Zune models.
The downside of Microsoft Zune 120 compared to other MP3 players
Before, the Zune came with awesome earbuds, but these are no longer included in this version. Likewise, several of Zune’s new music features are useless without the Zune Pass, which isn’t free. Also, battery life is so-so, while the casing is prone to scratches.
MP3 player rating for Zune 120
Zune 120 can stand on its own two feet when it comes being a unique and usable MP3 player. Plus, 120 gig of memory is a lot and can whet the appetites of those people with an ever growing playlist.

I like to call my sister as a technowizard since she knows a lot of information about technologies today like bluetooth, advanced wireless fidelity, and Mp3 players. Sometimes I envy this quality of hers because I really want to learn about this stuff. It's just that I can't seem to understand it all. The forte of my sister is dealing with Mp3 players. She knows about the latest Mp3 ringtones, accessories, and news. She knows everything and anything about Mp3's.
My sister likes to buy Mp3 players and accessories. Last night, she bought the Super Mp3 Converter. This baby, she told me, transforms any audio files to wave, Ogg, windows media audio, Vqf, AC3 (VOB), and Mp3 formats. My sister said that she likes this Mp3 converter because it's easy to use and it's highly functional. This converter is able to convert many different types of formats in one time. So whether you want to convert an Ogg or Mp3 at the same time, the super Mp3 can do it.
The super Mp3 converter is really superb since it can convert audio files in a fast manner. It also has a supporting batch converter that allows you to transform any different files together. Aside from these cool features, Super Mp3 Converter also enables its users to playback past music from their files. With these beneficial features, I will definitely buy one just like my sister's.

So far, the Apple iPod is still the leader of the mp3 player pack. Each time news of an iPod killer comes along, we got our ears perked up. Sometimes, a new player makes waves, but as soon as the hype dies down, the features of the newcomer also tends to disappear into oblivion. Witness the wacky Creative Zen. It is powerful, but not as intense as iPod's capabilities. This year saw the emergence of new products ready to bash the iPod - from Toshiba to Samsung to Sony. Is there hope for a new kid called Samsung SBH-300 Bluetooth?
Sunday, May 13. 2007
Not so many have punched their fingers on this bluetooth iPod phenomenon. But Apple is now vying for the bone on this one, since the Samsung SBH-300 exhibits new features that can match Apple's white handheld. For example, the Samsung SBH-300 features a 262k color OLED LCD display, an FM tuner, a voice recorder, and a Bluetooth A2DP stereo for a humble 2GB flash unit. It has 2GB of Flash memory and supports mp3 format along with image files. The 2GB of Flash memory can still be installed with a Micro SD card slot.
Saturday, May 12. 2007
Samsung's SBH-300 comes with a USB data cable, a necklace strap, earphones equipped with inline mic, and volume control. It can also handle phone calls when linked with another handset that supports Bluetooth. It's quite small, and I must say I'm impressed with its features. There's no doubt, though, that it competes more with the Creative Zen rather than the Apple iPod. The reason? It hasn't crossed the "killer iPod" hurdle to the finish line just as yet.

Before I met Anne (my mp3 player), I didn't appreciate mp3 players and other accessories associated with it. For me, it's a waste of money since it can only impair your hearing capacity. Besides, I have a disc player and bulks of cds that can entertain me. But then again, mp3 players are convenient, compact, and handy that lets you experience music. It even saves your files. Its great features enticed me in buying this product. Right now, I'm so addicted to it that I always buy all accessories related to it. Just recently, I bought an MP3 Wave Converter because reviews say it's good.
Thursday, May 10. 2007
It's very practical and beneficial to buy an Mp3 Wave Converter since it can transform your wave files to the format of mp3 and mp3 to wave format. It can also be used as an editor for MP3 ID3 Tag. Aside from it's editing and converting functions, Mp3 Converter allows its users to play all wave and mp3 files. The features of Mp3 Wave Converter are truly great as it performs multiple tasks. For mp3 fanatics out there, Mp3 Wave Converter is definitely a must have.

A lot of people keep asking me why I bought a simple gadget for my mp3 player when I can use the money to buy other relevant stuff like delicious gourmet food. They thought that I'm one crazy lunatic for buying mp3 accessories like the mp3 wave converter. I explained to them that it's good to buy this product since it can allow me to play my files whether they're wav or mp3 format everywhere I go. I can even connect with my friends online. The features are good and suitable for my lifestyle. That's why I don't think it's a waste to buy Mp3 Wave Converter.

My younger sister is fascinated in downloading any music in the internet. She wants the latest ringtone and music she discovers in the Internet. In fact, she has a ringtone of Rick Ross' hit, "Hustlin." This song by the Miami rapper is the first-ever ringtone which received platinum status in the music industry. According to my sister, about one million people hit this ringtone; that is why it's on top of the ringtone charts. My sister even told me that the ringtone became platinum first before his album did. Isn't that ironic?
Monday, May 7. 2007
I don't know who the hell Rick Ross is, but my sister who is very fond of music told me that he's one of the rising Miami rappers today. She said that his songs are great and she can relate to his music. I don't really like rap music, but I begin to appreciate the guy when I listen to my sister's ringtone Hustlin. I'm hooked with his music as well as his ringtones. I even do research about him in the Internet and I found out that he is six feet two inches tall. He weighs around three hundred pounds.
Sunday, May 6. 2007
Last July 28, 2006, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has announced that Hustlin is the first-ever ringtone that hit one million, making it on their platinum hitlist. Rick Ross has even commented that ringtones is one of the means in which he could channel his music to his fans. He is very glad to find out that one million people around the globe carry his hit song Hustlin in their ringtones. He even praised the beauty and technology that ringtones have, saying it can help musicians like him get their music closer to the audience.

Whenever I'm at work, I usually drink coffee and put on my Creative Zen Vision player. This is the latest innovation that Creative has produced. I like this player because it has everything I need in a player. Anywhere I go I can carry this light compact baby while watching my favorite Spanish movies or while listening to the latest music. It's very convenient and relaxing to have a Creative Zen Vision during work as it helps to reduce stress. It also spurs ideas and thoughts that I need to write in an article.
Friday, May 4. 2007
Music, memory storage, films and photos are the four greatest components that Creative Zen Vision offers it's users. With this player, you can watch one hundred twenty hours of nonstop movies, listen to AM and FM radio, accommodate at least fifteen thousand songs and even save and create voice memos. With the massive memory of Creative Zen Vision, you can even record fond memories with your loved ones such as dates, birthdays and special moments. All these things are possible thanks to Creative Zen Vision.
Thursday, May 3. 2007
The Creative Zen Vision is a 30GB model that is perfect to bring anywhere: at work, school and out-of-town trips. It easily slips into your pocket with its chic and sleek design. But do not be deceived. Great things come in small packages, as they say. The great thing about Creative Zen Vision is that it offers more alternatives and less hassles. In fact, all your one hundred and above pictures can be viewed as well as different formats of video clips. If you want to watch movies in a big screen, you can plug the cable connecting the television and the player. You can also use this as your organizer and alarm by recording important appointments through voice memos. For me, Creative Zen Vision is not simply an entertainment gadget but a helpful product that suits my lifestyle.

I can only get fed up with so many white gadgets. I mean, we're all looking at possible iPod killers now - the Creative Zen attempted but didn't only succeeded terribly. But the Toshiba Gigabeat S series comes in three colors: red, black, and...well, white. It was also a tad heavier than the iPod but that shouldn't be a big deal. It comes in both 30GB and 60GB hard drive capacities so storage is also not a problem.
Tuesday, May 1. 2007
A horde of iPod suckers question the features of the Toshiba Giga. For example, I'm not sure whether it has a voice recorder, but it has an FM tuner and plays mp3 (and/but more often) wma formats. You can also use it with your Xbox and Tivo to make things more fun. The video monitor is so crunk - it's a hefty QVGA screen. The battery allows this video to run for 5 hours while the Toshiba Gigabeat itself purports to last for 20 hours.
Monday, April 30. 2007
The Toshiba Gigabeat S has just been released this May, but ever since January, the iPod folks on the other side of the island have been speculating on this Microsoft-powered mp3 player's success. Of course, no player seems to beat the iTunes' success, so good luck to the next iPod contender. Unfortunately, the Toshiba Gigabeat can only support WMV for video but the Media Player eventually works to transcode the other formats to play it back on PMC.

The first time I heard DJ King, I fell into a mild comatose episode. I guess this is common for those who like to turn up the speakers' volume and sit around the living room with a few MP3-loving friends. Or, those who like to download MP3 tracks and let the DJ at the club play it for experimentation's sake. Lots of times, DJ's just record their own music on MP3 format and allow people to download it for some musical exposure. It used to be private engagement. Now, everyone who's got an ear is doing it.

That's when I learned that I could download trance music from private music makers and play them on your reliable Apple iPod. I could hook it up to huge boom boxes and let everyone tell me whether it's a cool song or not. Those who do not know trance music should step out of their shells and into the clubs. Pop lovers definitely had a taste of it in Madonna's track "Ray of Light". I think they also put some trance on to All Saints' album. But the most I listen to and download often are songs from the Chemical Brothers.
Friday, April 27. 2007
Now back to DJ King. He's an example of a free-flying musician who could record music in his own bedroom using his turntable and excellent ear for trance music. The beat can get exciting, sometimes trailing off to a slow halt, sending me to coma. Clubbers and dopes like to get into this funky mood. Listening to trance tracks is an experience not quite belonging to the Earth. Maybe it complements smoking grass, too. I used to poke my head to the aisles of the record bars looking for trance music. Now it's possible to get a taste of it for free - courtesy of the MP3 downloads.
